Practice bridge bidding
with your partner

Cuebids is a bridge bidding app for partnerships. Bid with your partner online and on your own schedule, or with a robot partner that plays a named system and never forgets an agreement — which makes it a good way to learn one. You pick the auction, and you get instant feedback on the contract you reached, from double dummy simulations of the deal.

The most popular bidding app in bridge, and the professionals are on it — so you can bid the same deals they do, and see how they handled the hand you got wrong.

Why bidding is the hard half to practice

The auctions that cause trouble are rare. You meet one at the club, get it wrong, and it does not come round again for months, which is why waiting for them is not a way to improve.

The bidding practice worth doing is concentrated: the same situation many times over, with the partner you actually play with, and a score afterward for the contract you reached.

Why players use it

You are never both online at once

The auction waits for whoever is next to call and notifies them when it is their turn, so a session can take ten minutes or a week. Nobody has to book an evening.

Practice exactly what you want

Pick a deal type and every hand in the session produces that situation. A session on slam bidding is slam decisions the whole way down, not one slam in twelve random deals.

Instant feedback

Each board is simulated many times to establish the best result available, then the contract you reached is scored against it from zero to three stars.

Find your weaknesses

Leak Finder reports on the areas you can improve with a given partner — slams, games, competitive auctions, opening shapes — so you practice the leak instead of guessing at it.

Compare with the professionals

Everyone bids the same deals in the Daily and Weekly, so the comparison is like for like. Professional players carry a PRO badge, and on any board you can see what they bid on the hand you got wrong. Follow the ones you want to learn from.

Competitions, if you want them

Daily and Weekly events, challenges against friends, ranked challenges, and leaderboards including one for the Pros. The practice is the point; the competition is what makes people come back.

Practice bidding with a robot partner

A robot partner can take the seat and bid a system you choose — 2 over 1, Standard American, Acol, French, Swedish, or a convention card you build yourself. That consistency is the point: a partner who never forgets an agreement is the one to rehearse an agreement with, because anything that goes wrong is yours to fix.

Advanced robots can also sit East–West, so you can practice auctions where the opponents interfere.

What it costs

Cuebids is free. You and your partner can bid together for as long as you like, on as many boards as you like. It is not a trial, and there is no board limit.

Tickets cover the two things that are more than just the two of you: a robot in a seat, and competition. They come out of a monthly allowance, and a free account gets 48.

What you spend tickets on Cost each
You and your partner, no robots Free
Advanced robots sitting East–West 1 ticket a board
A robot partner, after your first sessions 1 ticket a board
The Daily 8 tickets
The Weekly 24 tickets

Both players are charged, so a board with robots costs the pair twice what the table says. Your first sessions with a robot partner are free.

A subscription is optional, and it is not what makes practice possible. It adds deal types, and features most pairs never need: custom scenarios, private groups, four-player mode, and a deeper Leak Finder.

The top tier, Heart, has no ticket allowance to run down and covers your partner as well as you — so one subscription can carry a partnership. It works from whoever starts the session, so if only one of you has Heart, let that one start it.

What this is not. Cuebids is a bidding trainer, so there is no card play. If what you want to improve is your dummy play, this is the wrong tool. A robot partner is not a real partner either: it bids its convention card exactly, every time, where a human hesitates and misremembers. And the free configuration has the same blind spot as two people bidding at the kitchen table, because with no robots at the table the opponents never come in. Contested auctions are what the tickets are for.

Common questions

Can I practice bridge bidding online for free?

Yes, indefinitely. Bidding with your partner costs nothing, on any number of boards. Tickets pay for robots and for events, and a free account gets 48 a month.

Do we have to be online at the same time?

No. The auction waits for whoever is next to call, and you get a notification when that is you.

Can I practice a specific convention?

Yes. Deal types produce the situation you ask for, so you can meet the same decision repeatedly instead of waiting for it to appear. The convention library links each entry to the deal type that drills it.

Is there a bridge bidding app for phones?

Yes, for iOS and Android, and the same account works in a browser. Get the app.

Does Cuebids cover card play too?

No. It is bidding practice only — the auction is scored and the play is not. That is the trade for making every board in a session the situation you wanted to meet.

Why it works this way

I started Cuebids because bidding is the half of bridge I could never practice. Card play you can drill on your own, from a book, on a train. An auction needs a second person who has agreed the same things you have — and the auctions that go wrong are the ones you meet twice a season, which is not often enough to fix them by waiting.

That is also why bidding with your partner is free rather than a trial. Tickets pay for robots and for events. Two people sitting down to bid is the thing Cuebids is for, and it would be a strange thing to put a meter on.
